Amigos is a public, two-way immersion bilingual English-Spanish school. Half the children are native Spanish speakers, and half are native English speakers. My Anglo daughter speaks, reads and writes in Spanish as if she were a native speaker, and it is very strong part of her self-esteem. She also has a broader knowledge of the world around her - economics, politics and history. This program is more challenging than traditional schools but the payoff has been well worth it. I feel it has strengthened her knowledge and facility with her first language - English. The principal is an outstanding administrator. She garners the support and resources she needs so no child is left behind. Some grades are also getting Chinese instruction on a part-time basis.”
