“We moved up to New Hmapshire July 15,2006, from New York,and enrolled my son in Nashua South. I was very pleased with the school and had heard great things about it. The teachers genueinly care for each of their students. Even though my son really does not like school in general, he seems to want to succeed,and will with the help from his headmaster,who is very dedicated, I am sure he will. I am very happy with Nashua High School South”

“Nashua High South is a great place for anyone who wants to take avail of the oppurtunities available to them. The school has a wide variety of classes, as someone before me said, and the district makes an effort to allow students who are interested in a class which isn't offered, travel to a school where they can explore their interest. Most teachers seem to care about each individual student. The major downfall, which just started this year, is that most extra-curricular clubs and activities (not including sports) have been cancelled, including language honor societies. This is because the teachers are on strike because the district has failed to renew their contracts, and raise their salaries for experience and cost of living expenses. If you or your child attend a school in the Nashua School district, please support the teachers so that the issues can be resolved.”

“I don't understand why parents keep mentioning the issue of overcrowding. Yes there are over 2,500 kids in the school but I feel that it has never been a problem. I am currently going into my junior year of high school. As a student at Nashua High School South I feel that there are many possibilities for me to take advantage of. The first thought that comes to mind is the selection of classes that are offered. There is everything from Great American Films to Zoology to Pre-Engineering. Every kid that goes to South can find at least one class that intersets them. Besides the wide variety of classes there are also many AP classes that are available. Most parents would complain about fights or boring teachers but it doesn't matter what high school you attend there will always be fights or boring teachers. NHSS is a great school.”

“I'm a student at Nashua High South and in the middle of my Freshman year. I have absolutely loved my experience there. There are a ton of students and some of my classes are very large, but the teachers, for the most part really do care about every one of their students and provide after school help nights a few times a week. Since there are about 2,500 students attending, you are a statistic, and many parents worry that their child can just get 'swallowed' in a sense. The Students who succeed are the students involved in any sort of extra curricular activity-even if it's x-box club, or the football team. There are tons of athletic, music, and other programs to try. There you make tons of friends that share the same interests as you. There is something for everyone at NHSS.”

“NHS is probably one of the best public high schools in the area. The school offers a variety of AP classes, numbering about 20 or so, and many of those AP teachers are outstanding teachers who really know their subject and are incredibly, incredibly dedicated to their students. For example, the AP junior English teacher helps her students learn to write better by scheduling after school meetings with them to talk through the editing process with them. You can't expect the school to do everything for you. It's your responsibiliity as a parent to make sure your kids go to school. The school does indeed have a truant officer, but they're only sent out every 10 days of absence.”

“I think Nashua South is overall an ok school. It is a bit overcrowded (I believe there are close to 2500+ students) and most teachers do make an effort to get to know the kids on a personal basis. Because of so many students, I think some teachers can be overwhelmed. The school is in need of improvement and with new budget cuts, who knows how that will effect the ratings of the school. The school does have decent extracurricular activites. This is the first school I had to pay for my child to ride the school bus, but with budget cuts I guess I understand. As with any large school, there will be fights and tension due to overcrowding. This is not the worst school, but it is not by any means one of the better schools my child has attended. Again, I believe it's because of overcrowding.”

“I am currently a student at NHSS, Junior year to be exact, and I honestly don't know what all these parents are talking about. They keep talking about how horrible this school is and yet have never attended it. You can't judge it by what your kids say. I, personally think it's a great school. With about 2,000 students, the lunches are pretty even, with about 500 students at each of four lunches. I must admit, that space is limited, so sometimes students share seats, but I have never once seen anyone sitting on the floor. The school is clean and the majority of the teachers are wonderful. As with every school, there are those teachers that are notorious around the school as being 'bad' or 'hard', but they teach and that's what's important. School isn't a playground. It's a place to learn and that's exactly what we do there.”

“My daughter has been attending NHSS for 3 years now, and will be graduating in June. She loves it at NHSS and the teachers are wonderful. She has homework almost everynight and whenever she needs extra help, the teachers have been there for her. I have nothing bad to say about them and I commend them for all of their hard work and dedication. They helped my daughter throughtout this difficult year, since the death of her father, with compassion and they have been available for herwhenever she needed it. There may be some 'bad' teachers, as in any school, but my daughter has had the 'great' ones and I have been very pleased with them.”

“I am a latino girl, currently attending nashua high south and personally i think its a good school. They have many oppurtunities for us like cosmotology and cooking classes. Althogh there are alot of fights I don't find it to be a big deal because they happen everywhere. I moved to Nashua about three years ago from Boston, MA Chelsea to be specific. Chelsea High could not be compared because of how bad it is. A good thing about Nashua High South is that there diversity which you dont find in New Hampshire. So I have nothing but good things to say.”

“My 3 children attend NHSS and it is horrible. The academics are almost 0-none. My kids say the teachers won't help you. Most of the time my kids are watching movies, and seem to never have any homework. When going for extra help the teachers don't show up. I would not send my worst enemy to this school. My 12th grader skipped most of that grade and nobody would help me to get her to school. There is no truant officer and I don't believe they even know what one is. To me this school is a vacation place from home, not a learning institution.”

“My son goes to the Purple Panthers pre-school and I have nothing but great thing to say about the school. The teachers and student teachers are more then willing to help out anyway they can. The only down fall is that personal belongings get lost but that happens anywhere. Keep up the good work guys.”
